AI is undoubtedly the biggest buzzword of our time.
The range of opinions about AI is extremely wide! The techno-optimists praise it as “intelligence on tap”, a sort of “magic wand” for smartness and creativity. Others are “feeling the AGI”, a presumably near-future event when AI can do almost all cognitive tasks a human can do. And then there’s the AI critics, some of which say “it’s time to come to grips with AI” while others are still “amazed by how utterly useless AI is”, doubling down on humanity and “unplugging from AI”.
What’s clear to me is that we’re living in times of late-stage capitalism, and all AI companies are operating within that context — some more aggressively, others maybe a bit less. Nothing new here! But I believe that all the above-mentioned perspectives are missing some crucial elements.
In my latest deep dive, I break down how various framings are shaping how we see and use AI — and how we can develop a healthier, more grounded approach to AI.
This deep dive is for those who want to see beyond AI as a force for automation and rethink AI in ways that prioritize human and ecological flourishing.
