From A Care-Less To A Care-Full Future
Why products made with care and love matter more than ever
I’m not a gamer, but every few years or so, I get the urge to play for a few weeks!
After doing some research on what games are trending right now, I came across a game that is so thought-through, so beautiful, so immersive, so mesmerizing, so awe-inducing, so full of care and beauty that it gave me back some hope for our future!
Am I exaggerating? Well, when it comes to the game, definitely not! It’s amazing! And I’m not the only one who thinks so. Gamers loooove Kingdom Come Deliverance 2!
Why am I telling you this? Well, in a world that is inundated with care-less, ugly, beauty-follows-function stuff, a beautiful game made with care and love, such as the one that seemingly all the gaming world is currently playing, is such an exception and feels like an oasis in a desert full of meaningless things.
And I think it points towards a bigger, emerging movement. I think that we are seeing a growing pushback to a society and a system that incentivizes care-lessness for the sake of efficiency and profits!!!
Let’s explore:
A Lo-Fi World
We're drowning in a sea of cookie-cutter mediocrity – from those apartment complexes that look like they were designed by an AI that learned architecture exclusively from Pinterest's "minimal modern living" board, to fast fashion that gives up on life faster than your New Year's resolutions. Turn on Netflix, and you're hit with an avalanche of shows that feel like they were created by an AI that binge-watched everything from 2010 and said, "I got this!" Meanwhile, our social feeds are stuffed with content that feels like it came from the same "How to Go Viral" e-book by that “bro” who won’t stop selling you his prompt engineering course that will 10x your productivity, “guaranteed”.
We're living in a lo-fi world where all the stuff around us has been focus-grouped all the way through and cooked up in the same risk-averse corporate kitchens. It’s all….meh.
